Manicure

A manicure is a therapeutic treatment service for the hands that involves cutting and shaping nails, followed by a warm and relaxing hand massage. We don’t care about our hands a lot, even when they are one of the most used body parts. Every body part requires some pampering, and our hands need the most. Manicure is also considered a luxury, but it’s more of a necessity that offers a lot of crucial health benefits. A manicure includes nail treatment, hand massage, and nail polish. There are also different kinds of manicure services offered in our salon.  Some of the common treatments are French, Gel or shellac, Hot stone, and Parrafin wax. Each offers a different quality and type of care for your nails and hands.

Pedicure

A pedicure is a treatment for the feet. Although often considered a beauty treatment, it is more of a self-care treatment that helps boost the health of the feet and your overall well-being. While it is often associated with women, men’s pedicures have also increasingly become famous in recent days. This pedicure process involves cleaning, grooming, and beautifying the skin and toenails on the feet. This helps exfoliate the dead skin cells from the feet. After this process, the feet are often treated with moisturising lotion. After softening the toenails, they are cut, shaped, and polished.

6 Benefits of Manicure and Pedicure

There are umpteen benefits of manicure and pedicure that help your health and well-being. From preventing several infections and improving blood circulation to being the perfect skin care therapy, they double up as different treatment procedures. Here are six such advantages.

Exfoliating dead skin cells

A proper manicure procedure will help you remove dead skin cells from your body. Both manicures and pedicures treat the skin and nails, assisting in the revival of the skin. The exfoliation technique will remove dry, dead skin. However, there is more to exfoliating. When a manicure or pedicure is done, the process helps with cellular turnover, boosts microcirculation, and assists in better penetration of the skin.

Since manicures and pedicures help with exfoliation, you get softer skin, one that’s free from any dirt, pollutants, or germs. When you scrub away the dead cells, you also eliminate the old flaky skin. A softer skin also means healthier feet. It’s important because your foot condition can actually lead to many issues like foot corn and hint at several diseases like diabetes, arthritis, etc. By exfoliating your feet, you get softer skin and healthier feet.

Prevention of infections

Manicure and pedicure do not just enhance outer beauty. Such procedures help soften the skin and make it appear shinier. However, they also prevent foot infections. Since we often come in contact with different things on the ground, feet are the most common site for infections. When the skin is old and flaky, it becomes a major spot for all bacteria and germs to grow. In addition, sweaty feet could lead to several issues. When there is no moisture or less circulation, bacteria tend to grow.

When you go through a proper pedicure procedure, you are stopping these germs and bacteria from affecting you. Instead, the old flaky skin is removed and the bacteria and germs are cleared from that place. When you keep the bacterial growth away, you are not only protecting your feet but also your body from several possible infections. Exfoliating the skin using a pedicure is the best way to protect your feet and have a healthy body.

Provides relaxation and boosts your mood

Manicure and pedicure procedures create a healthy body, which means you will be more relaxed and in a better mood. A lot of people actually enjoy a mani-pedi mostly because it offers a relaxing experience. We often underestimate manicure or pedicure procedures as a waste of money. However, the massaging offered, plus the brushing and soaking in warm water, relax the muscles. Every physical activity has a mental effect. In addition, it is said that human touch can be very powerful for our mental health. It is in this manner that mani-pedi massages offer an overall rejuvenation and relaxation.

When you have calluses on your feet, it can actually affect the entire body and cause back pain. Therefore, when you remove or prevent those through manicures and pedicures, you are protecting yourself from causing pain in your back. So, man-pedi methods actually help improve mood, boost your health, reduce stress and increase feelings of happiness and joy.

Improving blood circulation

While sweaty feet are a common problem that we address, dry feet too can cause a lot of issues. For example, when the pores in the feet get clogged, it will cause dry feet and cracked heels. It can lead to a lot of pain. Exfoliating your skin through a pedicure will not only heal the area by moisturising but also help maintain a proper blood flow in your foot. This improvement in blood circulation helps retain oxygen in skin pores. When the skin is free and able to breathe, you get to enjoy healthier feet.

In both manicure and pedicure procedures, massages are a major part. Such massages will help to promote healthy blood flow throughout your body. Massaging just your hands and legs will help improve circulation in your hands, arms, lower legs, and feet. It will make you feel fresh, rejuvenated, and healthy.

Fights the effects of ageing

Better blood flow makes your skin feel younger. When there is better relaxation and more blood circulation, it will help fight the effects of ageing. It can promote muscle strength and tighten the skin. Since the mani-pedi procedure activates your cells and massages relax your nerves, it helps improve the blood flow in your body. Plus, manicures and pedicures also promote muscle strength, decrease cellulite, and tighten the skin. It improves your skin’s texture, firmness, and elasticity.  All these effects combined assist you in looking younger and feeling energetic.

Prohibits Calluses

We all walk for long periods for different reasons and this can affect our body in several ways if we don’t care for it. For instance, since we keep walking, be it barefoot or wearing shoes, it causes calluses to appear on our feet. For the uninitiated, calluses are thick, hard skin that appears when the skin is repeatedly pressed. Sometimes, the calluses can be very painful although they don’t cause any serious issues.

The best way to remove calluses is by nail treatment. Nail treatment is a process that will help remove many dead skin cells on your feet. Pedicure treatments help not just in the healing process but also act as a prevention. Usually, calluses are formed due to repeated rubbing of the skin, which can be treated when there is more moisture in the skin. Pedicure treatment helps provide that moisture for the feet. By ensuring that you remove or prevent calluses, you actually control the damage that can be caused to your feet.

If you are still confused about what pedicure does in removing calluses, here’s how it works. Besides moisturizing the skin, pedicure also helps soften the skin, making it easier to remove calluses, and the exfoliating process can remove the calluses and buff away dry skin.

Frequently Asked Questions

After your manicure procedure, it’s always best to avoid getting your nails wet for long hours. Also, avoid coming in contact with chemicals like sunscreen, perfumed products, etc. If a nail is damaged, book a repair appointment.

The technicians are experienced and well-equipped. At Autumn Salon, we maintain a healthy, hygienic environment. Our instruments are properly sterilised or are single-use items. Pedicure chairs are properly sanitised. We also sanitize the entire salon every day.

A pedicure may dry to the touch an hour or two after the treatment has finished. But it doesn’t mean it’s fully dried. Pedicure can take between 12 and 24 hours to fully dry. So, you will have to wait that longer, at least a minimum of 12 hours before you take a hot shower or bath after a new pedicure.

If you want to maintain the benefits of a pedicure, you should get a pedicure done every four-six weeks. If you push it any further, the dead skin cells may start to grow increasingly and cause calluses. So, you can slot your professional pedicure sessions once in every four-six weeks. However, just a professional pedicure will alone not help you. You must also maintain it manually at home, such as getting toenails clipped, cleaning, shaping, etc.

The length of time a manicure lasts can vary based on the type of nail polish used. A gel or shellac manicure can last for two to three weeks, but regular nail polish can only last one to two weeks.

Getting a manicure done every 2-3 weeks is the ideal recommendation of most skilled nail technicians. You don’t have to overdo it to maintain healthy hands and nails by doing this. Two weeks later, you may notice that your cuticles are drying up, your nails are becoming ragged, and your nail polish is flaking off.

Although DIY manicures can be tempting in place of salon visits, we advise leaving it to the professionals. It takes years and hundreds of painted nails to get the perfect manicure; it all comes down to paying great attention to details and applying the lacquer as near to the cuticle as possible. Moreover, achieving a glossy, uniformly dispersed, and smooth finish is far more difficult than it appears.
